Review of Babel (2008) by Erin O — 03 Apr 2011
When comparing director Alejandro González Iñárritu's two most recent films, I much prefer Babel than Biutiful. The former has storylines that work on their own individually, yet are very intricately and cohesively interwoven together through space and time.
I appreciated the connectedness of Babel's narratives and their relevances to the plot more so than Biutiful's. Iñárritu's own distinct style is unmistakable - a somberness blanketing the intertwined lives of the characters in breathtaking landscapes.
The ensemble cast make this film all the more touching and sympathetic.
