Review of Babel (2006) by Rex L — 21 Nov 2010
Whilst well-performed and nicely shot, its an incredibly emotionally manipulative film with a sole purpose to provoke the audiences emotions. Its like watching the start of 'Casualty', only 2 hours longer: You spend the whole film waiting for tragedy to strike.
And it does. The end. Oh. Its supposed to be deep 'n meaningful, but its nothing more than your average 'Take A Break' story dressed as art. To quote one reviewer:"A butterfly flaps its wings and a hurricane starts blowing on the other side of the world.
..Yeah, a mouse farts and a talentless Mexican makes another bad movie!".
