Review of Babel (2006) by John S — 14 May 2010
Quite a slow moving film. My wife & eldest daughter gave up & went to bed mainly due to the lack of pace. I watched on though & quite enjoyed it. It is the kind of film that leaves you thinking about the situation of some of the main characters in it long after the credits stop rolling.
The score is quite atmospheric. I'm not sure if it's due to the scoring or the muslim cultural setting for one of the strands but I felt very much in mind of 'Syriana' whilst I was viewing it.
This is a movie that is all about the viewing & experiencing the viewing & nothing about the ending. If you approach it with that attitude you'll come away with some of the golden nuggets hidden away in this film!
