Review of Babel (2006) by Aaron M — 23 Dec 2010
If I ever did an all time best movies list you can bet this one would rank. Just an epic movie on several levels, not the least of which is the intricate intertwining story of 4 vastly different groups of people and how their lives are linked.
Just pure genius writing. This movie is filled with several outstanding performances, and a great score to boot. It's so simple, but so amazingly clever. Definitely a movie that will stick with you awhile.
What strikes me as surprising is that I've come to learn that this is actually the third and final movie of a trilogy. The so-called Death Trilogy. I'm not quite sure how that fits since this movie is seemingly a stand alone, but I am very anxious to find out, and those two movies are now at the very top of my Netflix list.
This is a very impressive film. Absolutely loved it.
