Review of Bāhubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) by Shamith G — 21 May 2017
This is an indiscriminate mixture of clamorousness and flamboyant visuals that severely defy logic as well as laws of physics so often making a mockery for over 3 hours ..
The writing is unbelievably worthless through out, especially in the beginning when the duo of Baahubali and his side kick mama start being supposedly funny.
Then We have a never ending Saas-Bahu contention on women empowerment, traditions and much more ridiculous scenarios which I have seen growing up when my mom used to watch Daily soaps on TV.
Finally the thing I hated the most in this movie is reason that kept the whole nation drooling for 2 years "why kattapa killed Baahubali". The whole backdrop leading to the Baahubali killing is really silly as well as predictable.
Cinematography and background score is average.
So is there any impressive thing about this movie?? Yes, particularly two scenes ...
One is the oath taking scene which is visually delightful and surprisingly painstaking.
Secondly the final climactic combat between the 2 bodybuilders which was pretty decent for an action cinema...
All the others stunts /special effects are good for only 5 minutes.
Performance which demand a lot of shouting is justified by Prabhas, Rana and Ramya.
Kattapa a bit overacting drama queen and his comedy is pathetic. But still He shines in some serious situations. Anushka looks a bit old for a princess but still manages her role with a somewhat of a decent job. The directorial vision depends extremely on deficient visual effects and sturdy characters which is a big letdown.
Overall a nice attempt by the filmmakers to explore a historic theme but they really should pay much more attention to script writing, laws of physics, logic and many more....
