Review of Azumi (2003) by Nikolaj Z — 20 Apr 2008
Minus some overly cartoonish moments, which were like interjecting moments from Kung Fu Hustle into the movie Hero, this was a very well crafted historical action epic. I liked this because it isn't too heavy of a movie, like Crouching Tiger, but something that didn't pretend it was more than it is. It's fun yet has a serious undertone, and some of the action is amazing.
I must say that I've almost never been so attracted to a female character in a movie as I was to Azumi in the last 20 minutes of the movie. She was simply stunning in that strong, sweet, elegant way.
