Review of Away We Go (2009) by Steven P — 06 Jun 2010
Maya Rudolph and John Krasinski have surprisingly good chemistry in this heartfelt, touching, and very funny Juno-lie comedy. They play a 30-something couple expecting a baby and at a loss to where they're going to live or what their lives are going to be like and so they travel across the country hoping to find the right place to settle down. Along the way they discover things about themselves and their lives that help them deal with the many problems they are facing. It depicts life in a very realistic way; life is hard, it's weird, and uncertain and this movie gives it all to you.
It's a very cute movie filled with honest, quirky performances (and a very odd cameo with Maggie Gyllenhal). There are plenty of silly and very awkward moments that make the movie very relatable and likable. It's very refreshing.
John Krasinski brings his adorable dorky charm to his character and Maya Rudolph is sweet and pregnant.
With a touching soundtrack and stylish cinematography it is easy to become sucked into the lives of these very likable characters.
