Review of Away We Go (2009) by Matt G — 09 Jun 2010
I rewatched this for a friend. It has some strong points. The relationship between the leads seems pretty believable, albeit idealistic. The last few destinations they go to are actually genuinely heartfelt and effective, although forced at times.
The other stories -- Jeff Daniels', Maggie Gyllenhaal's, Allison Janney's -- are so quirky, annoying, and painfully stupid that it gets pretty offensive. And it gets in the way of it being a good movie.
So, it settles for being decent. Nothing more.
