Review of Away We Go (2009) by Michael M — 30 Aug 2010
Fun. John Krasinski brings his usual charm, and the supporting cast is awesome. Special props to Jim Gaffigan playing a very 'non-Gaffigan' role. The soundtrack is nice, but the similar sound makes all the songs sound the same by the end.
The highlight of entire movie, however, is Maya Rudolph. I didn't realize she's actually an impressive actress. SNL cast members usually leave much to be desired in the acting department (with a few exceptions, like Michael McKean for instance), but Maya is actually quite fantastic here.
It's a grounded, highly charged performance, and I believed every word out of her mouth. I really became a Maya Rudolph fan after watching this.
