Review of Away We Go (2009) by Quaji I — 19 Sep 2010
I found the first half an hour of Away We Go to be very annoying and grating. It was trying to be "Quirky" with a capital Q, and I just couldn't relate to anyone.
Then, Maya Rudolph visits her sister, and the movie finally starts to build an emotionally rich story. The last hour really works, with a particularly emotional visit with a couple who can't conceive, a really funny sequence involving stuck up new age parents, and a sweet ending that is simple and effective.
By the end, Away We Go is very rewarding.
