It's really interesting knowing that director Sam Mendes' project before this was "Revolutionary Road", a moral opposite of this film. Part of me wonders if he was looking for atonement by making it.

Anyways, all directorial motivation speculation aside, "Away We Go" is a fantastic comedy. Each moment of comedy (and there are a ton) is hit perfectly by the quirky ensemble cast. The humor is almost off-beat, but looking back I am shocked that this film didn't receive more attention during its theatrical release.

In a sense it was a few years ahead of its time. If "Away We Go" played in theaters this year I guarantee it would have been a box office hit. It's a 'reflection of the times' type of movie, as the uncertain future seems to loom over us as a society now more than ever.

I see this as a film our generation should go back to if they are worried about struggling. It's a good reminder of the importance of dedication and companionship.
