Review of Away We Go (2009) by William T — 11 Mar 2013
Completely different in tone from Revolutionary Road (thankfully!) but with a lot of parallels (a couple who feel lost, unsure in themselves, insecure in what they feel should have achieved by society's standards, daring to risk and dream of something new), Sam Mendes turns to comedy.
Light, warm, funny - we loved it. Quirky believable characters and heart-warming. I think it could fairly be described as a "feel-good" film. Lots of fun dialogue and extreme people, who contrast with the love and closeness of the main pair.
Left me with a warm glow and wanting to see it again. Good enough to get on DVD.
