Review of Away from Her (2007) by Gary S — 20 Apr 2008
Break out the tissues, 'cos this little gem will make the eyes leak a bit. Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent do an amazing job in this heartbreaking insight into Alzheimers disease. It's sincere, believable, touching, and poetic portrail of the tragedies involved with our latter years are powerful beyond words.
Most amazingly, it doesn't rely on sentimentality and manipulation, but more a genuine window into the life of a couple who are torn apart by a cruel illness. A well packaged slice of harsh reality.
