Review of Away from Her (2007) by Sarah C — 06 May 2008
Loved it - though it made me cry a little more than I find enjoyable in a film. Polley - took a fab story by Canada's best female writer and created a stunning film. The ending was brilliant and hauntingly sad.
Loved two things the most thought - Love the tight shots throughout. It was uncomfortable at times and sad b/c of this intimacy. Love it! And love that they put the credits on white against the snow. Nice touch.
Hated the younger pics of Christie - wtf? Everyone knows what Lara looks like. Seriously though - it should have been shot on 8mm instead of cheap effects to age the film digitally. But overall, great Canadian flick.
