Review of Away from Her (2007) by Ryan S — 14 Jan 2009
A slow, meditative drama that subtly and gradually envelopes you in its emotional core. Sarah Polley's first outing as a director proves that she has a knack for working behind the camera, and that she is daring in the stories that she wants to tell.
The story here is certainly something that has to be handled well, and it is from beginning to end. The final scene is simply beautiful, as are the roles that Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent give.
