Transcends its Lifetime-movie-esque groundings by giving this couple serious depth in their relationship and deliberately avoiding overly-sentimental sequences. Don't get me wrong; the film knows when it's time to jerk a tear, but more often than not, it's focused more on character dynamics than tissue boxes.
