Review of Away from Her (2007) by Wamique G — 15 Aug 2009
This is a very difficult film to completely wrap your brain around. It raises so many questions...but you might not even realize all of them until the credits roll. Does love know a limit? How far can someone be held to their actions if their mind is slowly going dim? When real, unavoidable, hard-hitting challenges hit, does past experience really make any difference at all? Like Eastwood's "Changeling", this is a tough film to watch and experience.
Brilliant acting, familiar (in a good I-can-relate-to-that way) story, and brutally realistic. That's one thing I really like about this movie: the end, like real life, is not anywhere near cut-and-dry.
