Review of Away from Her (2007) by Jess L — 06 Feb 2013
This movie won't appeal to a large mass of people mostly because people these days look to movies solely for entertainment without realising that they can actually learn something from watching a film.
At first I was put off when I started watching this, the slow pace, depressing tone and subject matter - it wasn't what I was expecting, it turned out to be a lot more. A slow paced, haunting and upsetting film about a married couple coping with one partner's onset of Alzheimer's disease.
It opened my eyes to a world and to people that are so apart from my own life and people I know, it let me experience something I know nothing about and for that reason I enjoyed this film. The acting was superb, the feel of the movie and the soundtrack were excellent and overall a promising directorial debut.
