Review of Awakenings (1990) by Nick B — 10 Mar 2008
Can't ask for better acting from Robin Williams and De Niro, and the supporting cast does a good job in... well... supporting. However, this film floats between a warm, feel-good tone to a deeply depressing one all too quickly, making it seem like the filmmakers didn't know how to appropriately approach the material in the first place.
They did a good job in capturing both, but in the end it's far too muddled.
