Review of Awake (2007) by Ghost G — 25 Jul 2009
A movie like this is so serious in its subject matter but so ridiculous in it's storyline that I like it mostly because it's so bad. Alfred Hitchcock would have loved to made a movie like this but he would have made it better.
Robin Cook could write a better story than this. Basically, this movie deals with a real medical condition about people being conscious during an operation. For people who feel that Hayden Christensen helped destory the Star Wars saga with his role as Anakin Skywalker, they may enjoy seeing his chest being cut open.
But this isn't a gorno movie. Actually, with the exception of the operation scenes, there really isn't much violence in this movie. All the villains in this movie end up being arrested. To mention more of the plot would give away all the twist and turns.
Christensen is a trust fund baby with a bad heart. On the night he marries his mom's assistant played by Jessica Alba, he gets word there is a donor. What follows is a ludricous plot that plays more like a Twilight Zone with cheesy acting.
It's not the best thriller ever made but it's not the worst.
