Review of AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) by Stephen B — 26 Apr 2011
I don't particularly think this film is good, but nor do I think it is as bad as people make it out to be. I'll give the critics that the storyline should have been better in a film merging the greatest aliens ever created in horror science fiction.
But it was not terrible. The acting maybe wasn't good, but it was at least decent and that's all we can really ask for because these versus films tend to be average and never great (taking Freddy vs Jason as another example).
But both the Predators and the Xenomorphs pulled off their normal essence in this film for me and I thought both species were as good as normal. Overall, I prefer this film to both Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection but, admittedly, they are nowhere near as good as Predator, Predator 2, Predators, Alien and especially not Aliens.
I do not have much to say about this film other than the fact I do not like it very much, but I don't dislike it either. However, it is easy to see why some people find it terrible if looked into deeply enough and I think it is because this film overindulges on the whole humans and Predators teaming up to defeat a common enemy.
That really was stupid.
