Review of AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) by Joe A — 28 May 2011
AVP is another movie of the Alien series that is maligned more for not meeting expectations then for the film itself. The idea of this movie was every fan boys dream so, it obviously was going to disappoint when it actually happened no matter what.
Not to say that the film doesn't have flaws, it does. The script has some cool ideas but could be stronger, most of the characters are weak, the PG-13 rating is limiting, and only 3 predators was kind of a cheat but, there are some cool action sequences once it gets going and it has a strong finale with the last remaining Predator teaming with the last remaining human against an Alien queen, with the charming Sanaa Lathan doing most of the work.
No, not a great movie, and not the epic battle we all wished for but, it is an entertaining movie if you take it for what it is and not what you wanted it to be.
