Review of AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) by Kenny S — 02 Jun 2011
About as dumb as the title would lead you to believe. When one of his satellites notices a heat signature of a pyramid under Antartica (?) a billionaire who looks a lot like the android from Aliens hires a team of boring cardboard cut-out disposable scientists to lead a boring expedition to the pyramid.
The entire first hour is just dull. Dull, dull, dull, dull, dull. The only thing that really happens for most of it is just building up to the big Alien-Predator showdown. When we hit the hour mark and things finally start happening it isn't nearly as impressive as the build-up would lead you to believe.
There are absolutely no scares, very few thrills, and the action is mediocre at best. The PG-13 rating is bullshit as well...we can't even get the full line of "your one ugly motherfucker"? Also I couldn't understand most of what that British guy with the digital camera was saying.
