Review of AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) by Stefan G — 30 Jul 2014
You'd think that a movie like Alien vs. Predator would be a good concept, but they just kept screwing it up. The characters are so flat, thin and unlikable that it's no wonder that they get killed off so quickly.
The Predators are the best part about the movie by far, but even then, it's pretty bad because nothing about the plot makes sense. The story starts out with an exploration crew going to an island north of Antarctica (where nothing could survive), but then goes on about the Predators being the gods of an ancient civilization.
My biggest complaint with this movie is that they neutered the violence just to get a lower age rating in American theatres, and in a movie starring the aliens from the Alien franchise, and the Predators from the Predator franchise, that's simply unacceptable.
