Review of Avenging Force (1986) by David G — 19 Apr 2012
Cannon action flick that reunites American Ninja co-stars Michael Dudikoff (the man you get when Chuck Norris is just not wooden enough) and Steve James as ex-secret service agent Matt Hunter (the "best in the business" of course) and best friend/political hopeful Larry Richards as they find themselves up against the Pentangle - a secret fascist society of the rich and powerful who swig champagne and preach white superiority by day and hunt victims in the Louisiana bayous by night. If you're a fan of Cannon then get ready for a fun ride as all the staples are here - corny dialogue, cheesy soundtrack, over the top villains (John P. Ryan turns in a typically maniacal performance), daft action and absolutely no subtlety whatsoever. If you're not a Cannon fan then run away. Run far, far away. Right now!
The only real downside is the cliffhanger ending. It would have been OK I guess if a sequel had been made, but it never was!
Oh, and if you were wondering, the time between Steve James' first appearance and him taking his shirt off is 36 minutes. Yes, I timed it.
