Review of Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher (2014) by Kyle M — 10 Aug 2014
A Marvel film at a same scale, but more on the individual side of the main action. This is more of a Black Widow film that focuses on her (receiving spotlights recently) while the Punisher is an addition to level things up in the story and the action. Like Marvel's previous, preceded anime film "Iron Man: Rise of Technovore," the action was well done along with the anime style and similar soundtrack. What makes this better than the latter is the story that features more characters of the Marvel universe.
But what to criticize is its uneven pacing that have been popping up at some reasonable time. Also, some styles to the animation were better, while some weren't. The violent content may've been a problem, but it's typical to these kind of PG-13-rated anime with similar looks.
"Avengers Confidential" is like any other Marvel latest films with the same enjoyment, as well another successful 4-star animated feature. After a few anime films and a combo of CGI and 2D animation in their previous feature, I think it's time for Marvel to go back to the plain 2D animation like they've done in the beginning of their animated features. (B+).
