Review of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) by S P — 15 Aug 2016
Out of character dialogue for the purpose of a cheap laugh. This sequel to the novel, heart warming Avengers(2012) attempts to recreate the witty humour yet missing entirely forfeiting pacing, character development, and an effortless story arch. Visually stunning as it is, fans of marvel can't help but feel cheated as Joss-similar to a hustler swiping your wallet- presents something visually spectacular in one hand that is meant to distract audiences from the lack of effort put into the characters and writing.
In addition to the out of character dialogue, the Natasha/Bruce story arch was completely ridiculous. Why set up attractions between Nat and Clint in the first movie just to 'scrap' the idea in the second? It was completely unprofessional as content creators, causing an uproar in the Marvel community.
One scene in particular sent most on their heads in disbelief. Now, one could argue that it was innocent enough in the injection into the films story but one would also think, being a creative team of adults, that they would be savvy enough to know the blatant misogynistic sexism present in revealing the fact that Natasha is sterile. How does the fact that a woman can't have children make her a 'monster'? How is it that her deepest, darkest, most sinister aspect of her character be that she can't have children? It is absolutely unbelievable. Most choose to just ignore that this movie was ever made, I suggest you do the same.
