Review of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) by Deeman010 — 01 May 2015
Disappointing. Very disappointing. There are many flaws to this film.
The narrative is something to behold. They had the ability to make it so interesting but they chose to force the plot instead of building it up as a result of the previous films. Where in the Avengers you could tell that it was the culmination of the phase 1 Marvel films, this film tries and fails to set itself up because there is no progression from the Phase 2 films. Everything in this film felt rushed. There is absolutely no reason for Ultron to be in the film, he exists purely as a generic villain for the team to fight. I feel as if they wasted the potential for the Ultron story line. I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil anything but all I can say was that the pacing and story did not suspend my belief enough to think that the events of the film could actually happen.
The action is amazing as always and the effects are spot on but compared to the first movie or ANY movie from the 2nd phase (even Thor 2), this movie just doesn't live up to the name. It just seems rushed to be honest and that the only reason for this film to exist is to serve as a bridge to phase 3.This is a 2nd film in a series so I hope that the 3rd is WAY better.
