Review of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) by Skulb — 27 May 2015
I have severe Marvel fatigue at this point. It`s one thing to make movies where you have a solid back story, like Daredevil, Wolverine or Spiderman, even though that is apparently hard too. Even X-Men worked because there was a story there to build off of. It`s quite another to make movies about this bad comic book which only exists because six year olds in the 1970s wanted to "see all the superheroes together!". But there`s no story to work with here. Big threat, must gang up to deal with it. Right, that`s the script done folks! Now for some special effects to cover up that there`s no story! The Avengers is the only Marvel prospect I can think of that`s even worse than Fantastic Four.
But it isn`t the fault of the director. At least not entirely. There literally is no story to work with. I have no idea what made them think they could make more than one movie out of this nonsense. The first one was passable because it focused on Captain America a lot, who does have a decent story to work with. But without that focus this movie is just lame. Thor`s Hammer comic relief is real!
I can`t wait for Antman.....
