Review of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) by Khyron42Prime — 12 May 2015
Way, way too much Whedon. Whedon writes each character in the same voice: his own. Mid-combat quips don't break the tension, because there IS no tension to break, because there was another mid-combat quip less than 3 seconds ago. The villain is, for NO in-universe reason, a snarky, meta, sarcastic jokester. Because he's Joss Whedon, just like everyone else.
The "romantic" subplot is out of character, self-indulgent, and frankly just awful. Every single moment of it is painful to watch.
Aside from one gorgeous battle at the end, this movie is barely worth seeing.
