Here the obligatory question is: was it worth waiting 13 years? In a relative sense, yes. The story is almost a replica of the previous one, with new situations and characters that are in place, with dynamic action sequences that at least do not saturate the viewer.
Seeing it in 3D is not strictly necessary.
