Review of Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) by Leafs43 — 16 Dec 2022
Honest review: I was torn between a 7 or an 8. I opted for the 8 because it was a risk for james Cameron, and risks should be rewarded.
I base my review on the merits of the story, not the visual effects, which are top notch i.e. best in the industry. (Anyone who complains about too much CGI probably believes they should have used real 8 foot tall blue aliens.).
The story is the first act in a much larger story. That much is obvious It shows the cruel nature of humanity, but also the capacity for compassion. You connect with the characters. And there are so many mysteries left to be answered.
The next installment Cameron should really focus on the humans a little more and sort of state of Earth. There is this lingering idea that Earth is dying and that's what is driving humans to Pandora. But please show it, not imply it.
