Review of Avatar (2011) by Preston W — 30 Apr 2014
I absolutely love the creativity that went into making this movie, it was such a thrilling and on edge kind of film. It is now one of my all time favorite movies. This movie used some record breaking graphics, Ideas, and digitized animations.
1. Script: Having two different languages in a movie can re tough, but in this case the circumstances are much tougher. Only because one is English and one is Na'vi made up for the movie. Also they did a good transition between each language in the written script.
2: Visual Effects: The visual effect artists that created this movie did an outstanding job! this was ground breaking graphics and one of the best uses of fractal replication. The visual editing took an accumulative six months to finish. The little attention to details in everything from facial features to the forests were outstanding.
3: The story line: From start to finish I was intrigued. Starting with a handicapped Marine then ending up as one of the "aliens" himself? pure gold. Intertwined with love, war, and another view of life was prime for this story line. It was a very well done movie. It wasn't just another stupid alien movie, it took sci-fi to a whole other level.
4: Sound effects: The sound in a movie must match the level of graphics. Since this movie had amazing visual features the sounds had to match. They did! Everything from the blowing up of the laboratory to the helicopters was crystal clear. Along with the music scores, you can tell they were picked with golden tuned ears.
5: The Acting: The acting in this movie was great. I think The marine (Sam Worthington) was slacking just a bit, talking mostly in monotone. Sigourney Weaver who played a big role as a scientist/translator did an outstanding job! overall I think the acting was superb.
I would recommend this movie to anyone into sci-fi, action, and adventure. Everyone in my family from the age of eight to eighty seven fell in love with this movie.
