Review of Avatar (2011) by Todd M — 17 Nov 2014
No doubt about it, this movie was made for an immersive experience a la 3d or cybernetic corneal implant. it's a visual knockout! the story is old, but worthy of being told again lest we forget. escape into a world where oppressive explorers are trounced and sent home with tails between their legs by the indigenous denizens of pandora, na'vi.
the na'vi could be first natives of the americas, the aborigines of australia, or the scheduled tribes of india......regardless the downtrodden people, the movie is not a history lesson but and entertainment piece.
avatar is filled with aliens, blue people and lots of wonderful tech toys. had my eyes on a transparent slate that would fit just right in my toybox. I like fiction on the screen and good fiction is what I got.
no story ripped from the headlines coming to a theater near you. the movie begins and ends on a world unlike any in real life. so, be prepared to escape for about 3 hrs. did I mention the movie in 3d is outrageous!
