Review of Avatar (2011) by James L — 05 Aug 2015
This movie had me in awe upon my initial viewing. It was a perfect theater experience and really captured a feeling of magic I hadn't felt for a long time. However, I must lower the score now that the hype is gone and I can take into account a more objective viewpoint.
The story was a rip-off of dances with wolves and Pocahontas. The main character was nothing special and had the personality of cardboard. The acting is not oscar-worthy. The visual effects don't hold up on a tiny screen they way they did in theaters.
It still holds a place in my heart as an exciting science fiction. (8/10).
