Review of Avatar (2011) by Michael W — 16 Aug 2015
This film is colorful in the extreme, and designed to make the best of the new 3D viewing format, without which this film would not have grossed as much money due to higher-priced, 3D movie tickets. While the world of Pandora is visually astounding, the plot is cut-and-pasted from Disney's Pocohontas and Enter the Matrix. Pocohontas: A warrior travels across a great expanse and falls in love with a tribal princess. Enter the Matrix: A man plugs his body into a machine, which allows him to discover that he is "the chosen one" and must lead his people in a fight against the Machines.
Beautiful, but blatantly unoriginal.
