Avatar is a strikingly beautiful and technologically stunning film, and even if the narrative isn't inventive and many of the characters are cliches, the environmentalist message is powerful and the film is a mesmerizing experience.
The native people's traditions and beliefs are very cool, the animals and environment are colorful and amazing and visually Avatar is above and beyond almost every film I've ever seen.
