Review of Avatar (2011) by Steve G — 14 Dec 2015
It's very surprising that "Avatar" is the highest grossing movie.
"Avatar" is a great Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie of 2009. The plot to "Avatar" is that a man named "Jake Sully" portrayed by "Sam Worthington" signs up to be transferred into the body of an "Avatar". This is done so the marines can collect a substance on the planet of Pandora. While "Jake Sully" is there he meets someone called "Neytiri" portrayed by "Zoe Saldana" The plot to the movie is good, the intro of the film wasn't all that amazing, the relationship between "Jake" and "Neytiri" is great to watch. One thing I found boring was the movie's climax, usually the climax is where the good guy beats the bad guy and the death should be suspenseful. I didn't enjoy the climax because the death wasn't suspenseful; there are no scenes that are thrilling at all. The acting in "Avatar" is good, there aren't any performances that are perfect or anything, I did enjoy "Zoe Saldana's" acting, she's a great actress in many roles and she did a great job in this movie. The music in this movie is probably the best part; it's the only thing that makes scenes good. "James Cameron" is good at choosing the right music for certain scenes. "James Horner" did a great job at composing the suspenseful music. The use of "Computer Generated Images" or C.G.I. in this movie will not hold up in 15 to 20 years, even now some C.G.I. is noticeable but not too noticeable. The action sequences look pretty good, especially the scene where the large tree falls down. The filming of this movie is good "James Cameron" is a person who knows how to film action. Some scenes could be filmed better but only one or two.
If you are a person who enjoys Sci-Fi and Fantasy movies than I do recommend you watch "Avatar" as it is a great movie with great acting, good action scenes and some loveable characters. I give "Avatar" a 7.5/10.
