Review of Avatar (2009) by Jose Luis M — 20 Jan 2015
Whilst avatar may boast some of the best special effects in cinematic history, that is about the only achievement this film aspires to. The story, whilst some may liken to its spiritual themes and ideas, is predicable.
There are no real twists, complex plotlines or thoroughly impactful moments not drowned out by the navi's slight niavity. As for the cast, while all are watchable, none shine. Sam worthington was terribly cast in an emotionless role where he's a paraplegic with a dead brother.
Some actors with minimal big screen experience are also questionble in the most successful movie of all time. Overall avatar succeeds as a satisfying blockbuster you watch when there's nothing else on tv.
