Review of Avatar (2009) by Cristian M — 16 Dec 2013
Legendary director James Cameron returns finally to the directors chair to bring us another sci-fi story. Now it's not another Terminator sequel which I'm still waiting, but it's quite an interesting and very clean looking movie.
Avatar. The film starts off with a back story on why the Sully, a marine in a wheel chair has accepted to join the Avatar program and then we're off to the new planet on Pandora. Where everything is full of life, wants to kill you, and very colorful and with a certain group call the Na'vi. So Sully drives his avatar around pandora and eventually meets one of the natives and she takes him back to their village so they can study him and learn from, the "sky people" as they call the humans. Aliens as well, which is funny and ironic in my opinion.
The film is a very genetic story, familiar like Pocahontas and also like Tarzan, villain point of view at least. White men want native territory, one of the white men goes in and learns from them and likes them in the end and fights back the white men. Pretty simple story, but that doesn't mean it's a bad one at least. The film also looks incredible with visuals that look way to real that you'll actually think at moments they're on a different planet. Beautiful looking movie and perfect HD that looks great and I mean great on bluray. One of the best ones I have.
Enjoyed the film, loved the visuals which is probably the best part of the movie and why people love it so freaking much if it made 2 billion at the box office. Looking forward to the sequels that are going to be released in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Oh and one more thing, enjoyed the directing from James Cameron except does random quick zoom ins like you see from a Zack Synder film. Yes better than that and thought those little moments were not needed.
