Review of Avalon (2001) by Daniel P — 28 May 2007
Some might think that a film set partly in an immersive video game future and partly in the bleakest, CG-assisted, sepia-toned Poland imaginable is a bit of a tough sell.
I'll grant you that, but "Avalon" is a fantastic film and one which deserves to be seen by as many people as possible.
Whether they'll dig it as much as I did is another matter.
This is grown-up, fantastic SF with a wonderful hint of 60's Euro New Wave and more than a touch of dread about it.
Art House SF at it's best - more please!
