Review of Avalon (2001) by Beyond J — 28 Jan 2008
Interesting and overall well done, though the pace is slower than many viewers may expect and the plot relies a bit both on outside knowlege of Arthurian legends and being a bit used to the usual Japanese style of storytelling of only telling a fraction of the story and leaving the rest to the viewer.
Under these conditions, the movie is quite enjoyable if a tad predictable, a well done adaptation/mashup of myths and legends in a postmodern setting.
