Review of Automaton Transfusion (2008) by Matthew S — 29 Mar 2008
Seeing wave after wave of 'low-budget' (in reality these are NO BUDGET) 'horror' flicks released direct-to-dvd, I long for the good ole days of independent film, when you had to mortgage your house, max out credit cards, and sell your body to science to make your first film.
with the ability to make a movie for as little as $30,000, I guess you get what you pay for, and in the case of AUTOMATON TRANSFUSION it's lackluster gore, camerawork, editing equipment and bottom of the barrel "actors" obviously culled from friends and family.
if the budget had been bigger, the stakes for success would have been higher, and the filmmakers would have cared whether or not they made a steaming pile of shit. as is, they get to rake in all kinds of money because their piece of low-fi garbage got picked for distribution.
at least next time they might be able to edit on something that doesn't reduce the picture quality to grainy dragging images and isn't sitting by their macbook on the dorm room desk. I give this one star for the fetus eating.
that is all.
