Review of Automata (2014) by Denis S — 07 Jan 2015
Automatá shows a good way to tell a Sci-Fi story. It has absolutely good looking setpieces with the first half of the movie taking place in a urban run down dystopian city and the second half outside the city walls in a vast desert territory.
Bald headed Antonio Banderas acts perfectly as the sad looking hero of the story, discovering that there is a robotic rebellion going on. Yes. The first half, which is more of a urban sci-fi film noir is more interessting than everything that is happening after Banderas leaves the city, but still Automatá seems to be a much underrated movie.
