Review of Automata (2011) by Paul K — 15 Jan 2015
A decidedly mediocre outing for Antonio Banderas. Not because of his acting, mind you; but because of the incredibly underwhelming performances turned in by costars Dylan McDermott and Melanie Griffith.
They just seemed to not really want to be there. Robert Forster, however, was brilliant if understated. I'd like to see those two work together again. Overall a good script with fair direction. The score was phenomenal.
This is the type of film that you just wish you could rank a solid four stars, but just can't.
