Review of Autism: The Musical (2007) by Ole J — 04 Sep 2008
I saw a little of Max in every one of them. From the first scene when "Neal" physically takes his mother's face in his hands in order to turn her to face him.
A heartwarming movie, very personal to me of course, I was in tears through half of it, because I was watching mothers and children that know what *I* know and only a small percentage of the population "get it" on this deep a level.
It would be nice if everyone who knows myself or Max watched this movie. I often realize that unless you have an autistic child, you JUST DON'T GET IT, much less be a single parent of one...or being an autistic person. ...with 1 in 150 children now being diagnosed on the spectrum, I would think being aware and educated on autism would be beneficial to most. More and more people *are* getting "it". or at least a glimpse of "it". Seeing the person not the autism... Movies like this inspire hope for my son's future.
