Surprised myself by addictively watching Australia until 2:00am on a working night. Yes, it is a fairly typical Hollywood production, but it also has something of the poetic story-telling quality of Rabbit Proof Fence, as well as some magic realism of its own.
Brandon Walters is spectacular! Also, lovely to see old-timers like Bryan Brown and Jack Thompson. Of course Hugh Jackman is a delectable bonus, but shame Nicole Kidman had to Botox-Butcher her lips and face like so.
It detracts from her usual good acting.
