Those that did not like this movie have either forgotten or never understood that movies are about telling a story and no one tells a story as well as Baz Luhrmann. Whether it is Moulin Rouge or Australia he purposely starts us off on the lighter and corny side of storytelling.
He then takes us on a journey through the emotional spectrum ending with hope or tears or both. Luhrmannâ(TM)s ability to do this through storytelling proves he is a master. You can either give into his style or fight it.
I assure you that giving in is 100 times more rewarding.
