Review of Australia (2008) by Jeanette D — 19 May 2012
Definately one of the best films of 2008. My only problem is Baz Luhrmann's typical annoying directing methods... The story-telling edge that was started by 'creamy' randomly ended 5 minutes into the movie so it seemed like it did not belong there (not suited to the rest of the film).
Otherwise this film boasts an epic plot development, tense moments and unforgettable characters. David Wenham makes a brilliant bad guy and acts one of his best performances. Nicole Kidman was ok, nothing special about her performance it was sort of typical of her past roles.
Hugh Jackman takes the cake in this movie. Best performance of his career. Epic movie. I cant believe this was not nominated for one golden globe..
