Review of Australia (2008) by D.j. P — 02 Mar 2013
A Baz Luhrmann spectacle to the Nth degree, Australia is visually striking and as grand as can be. If this film were made in the 1950's, it would have been better received than it was in 2008. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman have great chemistry and their stories are interesting.
The back drop of The Forgotten Generations and World War II only heighten the melodrama. If you're in the mood for a modern, old fashioned Hollywood film then get a ticket to Australia.
